Introducing our enviro-friendly shopping bags
It takes approximately 100 years for a plastic bag to break down, that’s longer than the average life of a New Zealander which is about 82 years!
We have a diverse range of people that make up our team, but one thing that we have in common is the desire to make less of an impact on the environment from our workplace. We also know that you, our customers, also share this desire.
Collectively it was decided that we needed to look at options to start reducing waste and become more environmentally aware. We brainstormed together as a team as to how we can start this journey.
We quickly realised that we needed to look at our stores and the impact that they were having and an easy decision here was to stop ordering plastic bags and to look at recyclable and reusable options – and here is where our journey begins...
Step 1: Phase out plastic bags in stores and roll out recyclable paper bags & woven bags and offer stylish reusable bags for customer to purchase.
We are pleased to say that we have now achieved our first goal with all stores now offering anenvironmentally friendly bag option.
Is that all you ask? Definitely not. Not only do we want to help you all with creating stylish spaces in your home but as NZ’ers we also have an obligation to look after this beautiful country of ours. We are already working on the next exciting initiatives here and we can’t wait to update you on our progress.
