Tips and advice

With colder and shorter days our social calendars seem to be in decline, as we all rush home to snuggle up and dive into the latest Netflix series. Making your home warm and inviting doesn’t need to be hard or costly, we’ve got some tips to create comforting interiors for the cooler months.

Faux Fur - adding instant luxury faux fur transforms a space into a cosy and inviting area. Faux fur is also a favourite for those wee fur babies looking for somewhere to snuggle up in the sun.

Lighting - creating warmth doesn’t need to be all about throws and blankets. Decorative elements play a big part too. Consider lamps and candles to create ambiance and depth. Wall décor is also a good way to influence the feeling of a room.

Remember, you can treat your home interiors like you treat your wardrobe. Bring out all your chunky knit throws and furs for winter to create a snuggly haven and then pack them away in the warmer months. Throws can still be a great way to add colour and texture in summer with light weight brighter colours. This allows you to keep things fresh and practical.

Layering - one of the best ways to create feelings of warmth and comfort is to layer. Keeping to similar tones or colours helps focus the eye and create interest and depth. Try to avoid having lots of different colours and contrasting patterns competing.

Soft furnishings are one of the easiest and cost-effective ways to change a space. Changing a couple of cushions and a throw can create an entirely different feel.

Rugs - adding a rug to your space will instantly add extra comfort and warmth. Choosing a thicker/heavier pile rug for the cooler months creates a cosier room especially if you have concrete or wooden floors.
