COVID-19 Delivery Updates

Mainfreight Deliveries

Mainfreight have put protocols in place that will eliminate interpersonal contact and minimise the risk of COVID-19 spread in the community.

During the pre-delivery call, questions around your health status and if any household members are in self-isolation or is currently exhibiting cold and flu-like symptoms. Deliveries to these properties will be managed on a case-by-case basis.

Green-Light Home Deliveries

  • When arriving at a residence, drivers will have sanitised and will wear the appropriate PPE including masks and gloves. The driver will then knock, step back ensuring 1 metre exclusion zone is in place. This will need to be adhered to at all times between you and the driver.
  • If requested, Mainfreight will deliver the item(s) into the appropriate room of the house and place in position. Items which require, will be unpackaged prior to placing them in your house.
  • A photo will be taken of where the item is left.
  • Returns of clean furniture will be completed.

Orange-Light Home Deliveries

  • During the pre-delivery call, customers will be asked questions about their health status and if any household members are in self-Isolation. Deliveries to these properties will be managed on a case-by-case basis.
  • When arriving at a residence, Mainfreight drivers will ensure they have sanitised and are wearing the appropriate PPE including masks and gloves. The driver will then knock, step back ensuring 2 metre exclusion zone is in place. This will need to be adhered to at all times.
  • All household members present during the delivery may be required to wear a protective mask.
  • If requested, we will deliver the item(s) to the appropriate room of the house and place in position
  • The Mainfreight driver will print the receiver's name on the consignment note, as signatures will not be requested. A photo will be taken of where the item is left.
  • Returns of clean furniture will be completed.

Red-Light Home Deliveries

  • During the pre-delivery call, Mainfreight will ask questions around the receiver's households's health status
  • When arriving at a residence, drivers will have sanitised and will wear the appropriate PPE including masks and gloves. The driver will then knock, step back ensuring 2 metre exclusion zone is in place. This will need to be adhered to at all times between you and the driver.
  • Where possible, Mainfreight ask for all household members present at the time to wear protective face coverings.
  • The driver will then place item(s) at the door or an agreed safe location outside of the household.
  • The drivers will print the receivers name on the consignment note, as signatures will not be requested. A photo will be taken of where the item is left.
  • No in-house installations will be undertaken.
  • No returns from private premises will be accepted.

NZ Post Deliveries

NZ Post will continue to operate and deliver mail and parcels to you under the Traffic Light setting. You can find more delivery updates here.

Red and Orange-Light Deliveries

All deliveries, pickups and collections will be contactless under the Red and Orange Traffic Light.

If you are expecting a delivery, NZ Post courier drivers will arrive at your home and let you know that they are there (knock on door).

  • The driver will then practice the appropriate social distancing measures and wait for someone to answer the door.
  • They will then ask for your name which they will then record on their handheld device as proof of delivery, signing for the parcel on your behalf. The person receiving the parcel will not have to sign for the delivery directly.
  • They’ll place the parcel down in front of them to complete the delivery.
  • If no-one comes to the door and there is no Parcel Leave service in place, the courier driver will follow the standard process, which is to leave a card which will provide details on how you can get your item.
